Antwerp Primary School

About

Antwerp Primary is one of five primary schools in the Indian River Central School District. We are located in the northern part of the school district and Jefferson County while traveling on State Route 11. Approximately 64% of our students come from military families residing on Fort Drum, NY, with the rest of our students from our local area.

Our curriculum is delivered through the most recent advances in primary level education. This includes the use of a broad range of technologies, a research-based reading program, as well as a wide variety of strategies to accommodate the learning needs of each inpidual child, whether that be the need of remedial help, or advanced learning opportunities.

An abundance of special services are delivered by certified reading specialists, special education teachers, a school counselor, a school psychologist, a school social worker, and a full-time registered nurse. Even further, teaching assistants and teacher aides provide additional instruction and assistance to augment the instructional program at all grade levels.

Please feel free to call us anytime at (315) 659-8386 to learn even more about the abundance of programs and services that our school has to offer!

IRCSD Welcomes Renee Loomis as New Antwerp Primary Principal

The Indian River Central School District is pleased to welcome Mrs. Renee L. Loomis as the new principal of Antwerp Primary School.

Loomis brings 21 years of experience in public education to her new role, including the past eight years serving students and families within the Indian River Central School District. Prior to joining IRCSD, she taught in Buffalo, New York.

She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the State University of New York at Oswego and is passionate about empowering teachers, supporting student achievement, and creating a safe, inclusive, and innovative learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

“I believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success,” said Loomis. “I value open communication and collaboration with families, staff and the community, while supporting students academically, socially and emotionally.”

The district looks forward to this next chapter at APS and believes Mrs. Loomis will carry on their tradition of excellence.
